Will the training I receive from ISS be adequate for me to pass a certification exam?

I (Linda) served on the NCRA Scopist Task Force and the Scopist Certification Subcommittee that wrote the first scopist certification exam. Unfortunately, after the exam was written, NCRA opted not to give it at that time.

This groundbreaking committee's first task was to define the skills and knowledge a scopist needs to possess, and they produced an NCRA document called “The Scopist Job Analysis.” When I originally wrote the content for my course, I ensured that all topics contained in the job analysis were covered, thereby assuring that ISS graduates will have all information they need to pass this important professional exam.

Good news! I have heard whisperings there may be scopist certification in the works again. The Scopist Job Analysis and test would need to be updated, of course, but the basics are already there. I hope the rumors are true! If they are, the ISS material will be updated/supplemented to cover all the skills and knowledge a scopist will need to have to pass the exam. You can count on us to always support your professional advancement. If scopists are able to be certified by NCRA, ISS will lead the way!
